Here I discuss the different Cult of the Lamb AUs I never finished. Which is kind of lame, but c’est la vie I guess.
Depression Quest:
The very first AU/idea I came up with, taking after the canon ending where the Lamb wins, and the former One Who Waits has a very bad time. Depression, self harm, suicidal ideation, regrets, etc. Where there may be acceptance, but never forgiveness. And Narinder and Ratoo become friends, that’s probably my favorite part of the whole thing.
I wrote the first chapter, but am unsure how to go about the rest.
The Courtship of the God of Death:
The second AU, which I actually began a fanfiction on! Too bad it’s gone unfinished. Taking some pieces from Depression Quest, it follows the alternate ending, where the Lamb gives up the Red Crown to The One Who Waits, but instead strike a bargain wherein she/they become his Consort in order to keep his Cult under control. Cue Narinder contending with a toxic relationship and grieving over his siblings’ deaths. He and the Lamb are Hot Messes Express™.
I think I wrote it decently and I fear my writing has suffered much since its last update. Also because my ideas go all over the place. But I did have a plot, it’s just… writing it.
Restart AU:
My third AU, taking some of its roots from my previous AUs and the second chance fix-it from my worldbuilding project. Here, it follows the alternate ending where The One Who Waits regains the Red Crown and sacrifices the Lamb, but becomes bored and has little wish to rule over a dying world, so he strikes a deal with the Mystic Seller to move to a new timeline/world/universe in exchange for giving up most of his power. Essentially, New Game Plus except Narinder is the player character and he doesn’t have all his power. But now he has to fight this world’s version of his siblings and ally with the version of The One Who Waits. And the version of the Lamb here doesn’t quite bow to him like the other followers do…
It’s more lighthearted, but still has a few darker parts to it. Unwritten.
19th Century (Regency) AU
My fourth AU, taking some pieces of Restart (such as the Lamb, Allani) and formulated after watching the movie Emma. Narinder, the exiled Prince of the Kingdom of the Old Faith, settles down in Halcyon under the guise of Amenthes, the wealthy investor of Ratau and Ratoo’s Trading Company. He goes to the company’s offices one day, only to collide with a lamb. She is so irreverent he decides to hire her as his assistant. Cue shenanigans. And a panic proposal.
Utterly self-indulgent, silly, and still contains some dark parts to it. While I’ve made a few doodles, my intention was for this to be in the format of a stageplay.
Eventually, I took Amenthes and Allani to Dragon’s Dogma 2, and while their Arisen-backstories may hearken back to 19th Century AU, they have turned into characters all their own. Oops.
